Third Annual Texas Holdem Show Down – September 15, 2010.
We reckon it’s about time to prepare for the annual stampede.

Last year’s poker event at the Guglielmo Winery in Morgan Hill was a hit and we’re fixin’ to do it again. Besides having fun, you’ll meet some great folks and will help to raise money for a good cause. Click HERE for the flyer.

2nd Chance Fund Nears the $100,000 Mark. Thanks to the generosity of our donors the Fund is very close to hitting $100,000 in the bank account.

Our grants are made largely from the interest and investment income generated from the principal, so we will be able to significantly increase our grant activity this year.

We continue to seek individuals worthy of a second chance. Please contact us in confidence if you are someone you know should receive a 2007 grant.

April 2007 Grant. The 2nd Chance Fund selected a Silicon Valley area woman for the first grant of 2007. The recipient provided in-home care for her dying mother during her final months. Thanks to our generous donors, the recipient is getting back on her feet and will be a positive contributor to the community.

2nd Chance’s First Grant. In 2006, the board of directors selected Ms. Erika Jimenez of Gilroy as the fund’s first recipient. We located Ms. Jimenez thru the San Jose Mercury News’ “Wishbook” Foundation.

With help from the Fund, St. Joseph’s Family Center in Gilroy, friends and family, and other charitable organizations Erika has completed her education and has started a publishing/graphics design company. Congratulations Erika!

What is the Second Chance Fund? We are a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide assistance to adults in need of financial support, particularly when the advancement of such financial support is likely to assist in the development of a self-sustaining career.

We do this in honor of one of Silicon Valley’s legends, Gerry Nicklas (pictured right), who was always willing to give people a second chance.
